Salvation, Repentance, and Forgiveness
📖 “If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NCV)
Lesson Objectives
– Understand what salvation means and why it is foundational.
– Learn the importance of repentance in turning toward God.
– Recognize forgiveness as God’s gift and our responsibility to others.
Salvation – Your New Beginning
Salvation is more than joining a church or saying a prayer—it is the moment your spirit is made alive in Christ. The Bible uses the Greek word sozo (σῴζω), which means to save, to deliver, to heal, to preserve, and to make whole. Salvation is not just about escaping sin’s penalty—it is about being restored in every part of your life.
Through salvation, you are no longer separated from God. You are adopted into His family, accepted by His grace, and awakened to His purpose for your life. This new life touches every part of who you are—your past is forgiven, your present is being transformed, and your future is secure in Him.
Repentance – Turning Toward God
Repentance is more than feeling sorry for your sins—it is a change of heart and direction. The Bible word for repentance means “to turn around.” It’s leaving the old path that led away from God and choosing to walk toward Him instead.
When you repent, you’re not just avoiding wrong—you’re surrendering to what is right. Repentance opens the door for God’s forgiveness and freedom to flow into your life.
📖 “But God, being full of mercy, made us alive with Christ—even when we were spiritually dead because of the things we did wrong. It is by God’s grace you have been saved.” – Ephesians 2:4–5 (NCV)
Forgiveness – Set Free to Live Free
Forgiveness is at the heart of the gospel. The Greek word aphiēmi (ἀφίημι) means “to send away” or “to release.” When God forgives, He doesn’t just overlook sin—He removes it completely. He releases us from guilt, shame, and condemnation.
Because you are forgiven in Christ, you can now walk in freedom. And as you receive God’s forgiveness, you are also empowered to forgive others. Forgiveness restores relationships, heals wounds, and keeps your heart open to God’s love.
📖 “But you have made me tired with your sins. You have made me work hard with your guilt. I, I am the one who wipes away all your sins. I do this to please myself. I will not remember your sins.” – Isaiah 43:24–25 (NCV)
