Courage to Obey
Listen to the Lesson:
—Joshua 1:9 NCV
Head Knowledge Isn’t Enough
There’s a big difference between knowing what God says and doing what God says. Many believers are filled with Scripture but stalled in fear. Why? Because obedience requires courage. It takes guts to follow God’s instructions when they challenge your comfort, reputation, or routine.
I’ve seen it in my own life. I knew what the Bible said about forgiveness—but when it came time to forgive someone who had deeply hurt me, I hesitated. I had the head knowledge, but not the heart courage.
It was then that God reminded me: “Be strong and brave… I am with you.”
When Obedience Feels Risky
God rarely calls us to safe or convenient assignments. Whether it’s forgiving, confronting, stepping out in faith, or leaving behind an unhealthy relationship—obedience often feels risky. That’s why Joshua had to be told three times in one chapter to be strong and courageous.
Because without courage, obedience stalls.
And without obedience, transformation stops.
The Real Reason for Courage
Our courage doesn’t come from personality or willpower—it comes from presence. God said, “I will be with you.” When we know He is near, courage rises. We’re no longer acting alone. We’re obeying with His strength.
Obedience is not about perfection—it’s about trust. Trust that God sees what we can’t. Trust that His ways are better. Trust that He will walk with us through every consequence of our obedience.
Courage in Action
It’s easy to talk about bold faith in Bible study groups. It’s harder to live it on Monday morning.
But God is calling you—right now—to take a step. It might be a conversation you’ve been avoiding. A decision you’ve been postponing. A habit you’ve needed to release. A ministry you’ve feared stepping into.
Obedience isn’t always dramatic. Sometimes it’s quiet. But it’s always powerful.
Why Meditation Matters
You don’t need to rush.
You don’t need to be a Bible scholar.
You just need to stay close to the Shepherd and keep chewing.
As you meditate on the verse, you’ll notice the change.
Clarity will come.
Peace will grow.
Wisdom will rise.
Victory will follow
Reflect and Meditate
“Faith by itself—that does nothing—is dead.”
